Happy BALL·E is born!
August 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Live from our first lab here at DTU:
We have just finished building Happy BALL·E (Ball Allocation Load Lifter // Earth Class) – the greatest TriBot we’ve ever seen
and can grab balls already. He’s so cute! But kind of aggressive… the first time he walked he just went quickly to the ball and threw it away. He’s also really polite because he actually waits for our clap to pick the ball
He’s still a bit disoriented. When he turns around he doesn’t turn 360 degrees. It is close to that but not exactly. We guess it is probably due to the 370 degrees on each wheel. Luckily you only notice this on the long distances, so since he’s still a baby and doesn’t walk that much he won’t get lost. Maybe when he grows up he’ll adjust to the right angle of 90*d/r, where d is the distance between the wheels and r is the wheels’ radius
After completing the given task, he wanted to play some more, so we showed him some more tricks like: staying on his back and throwing up the 2 balls, hugging another robot or grabbing 2 balls at once. We wanted to continue playing, but we remembered that we have some assignments to do (given by the lecturer this morning). So back to work than
The whole team is very proud of Happy BALL·E ! Some photos are on the way
Stay tunned for more!
Regards from BALL·E´s proud creators: Alina, Aurélien, Pedro, Sébastien and Vesna.
